Staches and Lashes

🔥 Staches, Slushies & Staying on Track! 🥸🎓📵

We’re rolling into another packed week at the PRIDE of the CITY, and there’s a lot happening as we push toward Spring Break. Attendance, engagement, and accountability continue to be our focus—let’s make this week count!

LIVE to GIVE: Staches & Lashes

Staches & Lashes is in full swing, and voting kicks off Tuesday and runs through Thursday at lunches. Every vote is $2, and all proceeds go toward the Tommie Forrest and Darnell Hunter Scholarship, awarded to a senior every year.

This is a great way to get involved, have some fun, and support a Peoria High grad! Winners will be announced Thursday afternoon.

Seniors: Jostens is Coming Through🎓

Jostens will be here Thursday morning through lunch to deliver graduation orders and assist any seniors who still need to place an order for their cap, gown, or other graduation materials.

Seniors, don’t wait—this is your chance to make sure you’re set for graduation!

Slide Into Spring with Slushies! 🛝

We’re rewarding students who SHOW UP! Any student with 95% attendance this month will get a Slide into Spring Slushie at lunch on Friday.

Attendance matters. Every period. Every day. It’s that simple. When students are here, they learn. When they aren’t, they fall behind. Let’s keep pushing for strong numbers and a hot start to Q4!

Spring Intersession 🌷

Spring Intersession is happening March 24-28 and is focused on helping students get back on track through Edgenuity credit recovery.

  • Seniors who need to finish courses to graduate—this is a must.

  • Freshmen who failed a core class in Semester 1 should attend.

  • Sophomore and Junior students are welcome.

🔗 Sign up for Intersession here: https://forms.microsoft.com/r/DnwrGZBxYn

If your student has unfinished coursework, this is the best way to get it done now instead of scrambling later.

Juniors – ACT is April 9th! 📝 (This is REQUIRED!)

Every Junior is REQUIRED to take the ACT on April 9th—this is a graduation requirement.

Make sure your student:
✅ Gets a good night’s sleep
✅ Eats breakfast
✅ Arrives ON TIME

📢 ACT Bootcamp continues Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday! If your junior hasn’t been attending, they need to be there. This test matters, and we want every student to perform their best on the test.

7 Mindsets This Week – Live to Give: Make a Difference

This week’s 7 Mindsets lesson is all about Live to Give: Make a Difference.

We’re challenging students to look beyond themselves and think about ways to help others, give back, and be a positive force in their community.

Encourage your student to ask themselves: How can I make an impact today? Sometimes, the smallest actions create the biggest change.

Cell Phone-Free School 📵

We’re sticking to the plan—phones stay in the Yondr pouch.

📢 If a phone is seen out at ANY point during the day, it will be taken and must be picked up by a parent/guardian in the main office.

We want to continue eliminating distractions and keeping the focus on learning. Help us reinforce this at home!

Cognia Survey – Almost Done!

✅ Parents & Staff – COMPLETE 🎉
✅ Students – 40 Left to Go!

A huge thank you to all the parents and staff who completed the Cognia Survey! We’re down to just 40 students left to finish.

Onward. Forward. 🐾

Show up to Glow Up

95% Attendance = College and Career Ready

If your student will be absent from school, kindly contact at 309-672-6630 x40096 or via email at peoriahigh@psd150.org A friendly reminder: Unexcused absences may impact eligibility for school events and activities. Absences can be excused for the following reasons (as outlined in Board Policy):

  • illness

  • observance of religious holiday (with 48 hours' notice requested)

  • death in the immediate family

  • family emergency

  • visits to college campuses and job interviews (with 48 hours prior written notice) to a maximum of five days

  • situations beyond the student's control as determined by the Board of Education

  • other circumstances which cause reasonable concern to the parent of the safety or health of the student

  • high school students serving as Election Judges

The daily school hours are 7:00 am – 2:30 pm. The building opens daily for students at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria until 7:30 a.m. Students are expected to be inside their classroom when the 7:30 a.m. bell rings. Students arriving after 7:30 a.m. must enter through the atrium doors (rear parking lot).

At the end of the day, students must leave the building if they are not with an adult sponsor/coach. Buses leave 10 minutes after school dismissal.

Students are allowed limited hall passes (restrooms & the school nurse). Please speak with your student about the importance of classroom instructional time and the safety of always having adult supervision.

All Peoria Public Schools have a closed campus which means students cannot leave the building throughout the school day for food or other errands.  No outside food/beverages (for example, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Polar Pops, etc.) are allowed in the building.  Students may bring a “cold” lunch to be eaten during their lunch period. We do have microwaves available for cold lunches.

🌡️ Prepare for success, just like you would for college and career! As temperatures fluctuate in the building this time of year, dress in layers to stay comfortable and focused on your goals. Remember, blankets are not part of a college or professional environment, so let's keep them at home. 🧥🚫

Please note - All PPS high school boys and girls Spring sporting events are only open to eligible* students who attend the home school. Eligibility is based on monthly academics, attendance, and behavior. See the Student Handbook page 9.

When PPS high schools are playing each other (MHS, PHS, RHS), only eligible* students from the two competing schools may attend.

Adults are welcome to attend all PHS events. Primary/middle school students can attend with a parent/guardian and must remain with the adult(s) the entire game.

*Students will need to check with their school administrators for eligibility status.
