🔥 Stay Ready So You Don’t Gotta Get Ready 🦁

First off—THANK YOU. Last week wasn’t perfect with testing, but we appreciate how flexible our staff, students and families have been. That ability to adjust and adapt when things don’t go exactly as planned? That’s a life skill. And it’s something we keep trying to model and teach here at the PRIDE of the CITY.

We’ve still got a good chunk of school left, but what we do right now sets the tone for how the rest of the year plays out. There’s a lot coming this week—finishing up testing, progress report grades closing, events, and celebrations—so let’s stay focused, keep showing up, and keep moving forward..

✅ACT Testing This Week

  • Monday: Juniors (N–Z) + Extended Time

  • Tuesday: Seniors & EL

  • Wednesday/Thursday: Makeups

⏰ Students need to be in Complex Gym Area by 7:30 AM.
📣 PreACT for 9th and 10th graders is coming next week.

📝Progress Report 4 Ends April 25
Let’s not play catch-up. PR4 ends the 25th—check Skyward, get missing stuff turned in, and pass those classes now while there’s time. End of the year will be way smoother if we handle our business today.

🎓JOSTENS & FAFSA – Class of 2025
This is a must. Seniors have to complete FAFSA to graduate—state requirement. If you haven’t done it yet, it’s time. Reach out to your counselor or swing by the Counseling Office for help. Jostens will also be here during all lunches on Wednesday—a good time for seniors to knock out some final grad checklist items too.

🌇Senior Sunset – Wednesday
This is one of those moments. Seniors—bring your people, your blanket, and take it in. The end is coming fast, and this is a good pause before the final push. See Ms. Scott for details.

💃🏾PROM 2025 – A Night in Dubai
🗓 April 26 | 🕗 8–11 PM | 📍Trailside Event Center
🎟 Tickets: $35 – sold during lunch 4/16–4/25
📌 No re-entry after 8:45 PM
📝 Guest forms due 4/17 by 2:30 PM
👑 Royalty apps due Friday

📋 Eligibility list drops this week. Students need to be on track—grades, attendance, and behavior matter. Questions? See the Student Handbook page 9.

🚌 Junior Class Trip
There are about 10 seats left! Final payment is due Thursday. Interested students should see Ms. Dailey or Dr. Tate ASAP.

🎟 Senior Class Trip
Tickets are ON SALE now! Seniors should grab a permission slip from Ms. Dailey if they want in.

🧠 7 MINDSETS – Live to Give: Leave a Legacy

This week’s mindset is all about impact. Not just what you do—but what you leave behind. Ask your student what they want their legacy to be this year.

How you can support this mindset at home:
Talk to your student about the small ways they can leave things better than they found them—at school, at home, in their friendships. Encourage them to think about the example they’re setting and how they treat people. Legacy isn’t just about the big stuff—it’s about the little moments that stick.

Onward. Forward. 🐾

  • death in the immediate family

  • family emergency

  • visits to college campuses and job interviews (with 48 hours prior written notice) to a maximum of five days

  • situations beyond the student's control as determined by the Board of Education

  • other circumstances which cause reasonable concern to the parent of the safety or health of the student

  • high school students serving as Election Judges

The daily school hours are 7:00 am – 2:30 pm. The building opens daily for students at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria until 7:30 a.m. Students are expected to be inside their classroom when the 7:30 a.m. bell rings. Students arriving after 7:30 a.m. must enter through the atrium doors (rear parking lot).

At the end of the day, students must leave the building if they are not with an adult sponsor/coach. Buses leave 10 minutes after school dismissal.

Students are allowed limited hall passes (restrooms & the school nurse). Please speak with your student about the importance of classroom instructional time and the safety of always having adult supervision.

All Peoria Public Schools have a closed campus which means students cannot leave the building throughout the school day for food or other errands.  No outside food/beverages (for example, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Polar Pops, etc.) are allowed in the building.  Students may bring a “cold” lunch to be eaten during their lunch period. We do have microwaves available for cold lunches.

Please note - All PPS high school boys and girls Spring sporting events are only open to eligible* students who attend the home school. Eligibility is based on monthly academics, attendance, and behavior. See the Student Handbook page 9.

When PPS high schools are playing each other (MHS, PHS, RHS), only eligible* students from the two competing schools may attend.

Adults are welcome to attend all PHS events. Primary/middle school students can attend with a parent/guardian and must remain with the adult(s) the entire game.

*Students will need to check with their school administrators for eligibility status.
