This marks a new era of leadership and commitment to educational excellence in the district that reflects our values, honors our progress, and energizes our collective vision for the future.

WEBINAR: Helping Kids Build Healthy Relationships with Food & Their Bodies

FEBRUARY 11th at 11:00am

Conversations about food and body image are a normal part of growing up. When these topics feel stressful or confusing, they can affect how kids feel about themselves and their relationship with food. In this webinar, Dana Sedlak, LCSW, CEDS-C, will share simple, supportive ways to help kids build healthy relationships with food and their bodies. Families will learn tools and everyday language to navigate common questions, worries, and moments around food and body confidence.

🗓️ Author Carlos Walker to visit Trewyn School for Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, Trewyn School is excited to welcome Carlos Walker, an inspiring author and artist from Virginia. Thanks to the Readers are Leaders – Reading Buddy Initiative, Mr. Walker will visit Trewyn School’s auditorium on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to share his book with third, fourth, and fifth grade students. Family and friends of Peoria Public Schools are also invited to attend this special event.

For Peoria Public Schools, one such hero is Rev. Dr. Arthur Williams—a centenarian whose warmth, humor, and unwavering presence as a crossing guard have left an indelible mark on generations of students, families, and co-workers.

Cue the celebration! Almost a thousand students from high schools across the district have earned a spot on the First Semester Honor Roll—a remarkable achievement that highlights their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to academic excellence.

To qualify, students students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher, demonstrating consistent hard work and focus in their studies.

This accomplishment is no small feat, and we couldn’t be prouder of our scholars for setting the standard and inspiring their peers. Way to go, Honor Roll students! You are making your schools and community proud.

Before becoming the first president of Illinois State University from 1857 - 1862, Charles Hovey was the principal of the Boys’ High School in Peoria, Illinois which was the predecessor of Peoria High (officially named in 1877).
