What a Great Week, Vikings!

What an amazing week at the Viking Village! We earned Fun Day Friday with an incredible 95% average attendance for the week! 🎉 That is absolutely outstanding. Thank you to our students and families for making this possible. It has been wonderful to see our attendance continue to rise as the year goes on!

We also have athletic achievements to celebrate this week. Our Lady Vikings soccer team earned a great victory over Mark Bills—way to go, Lady Vikings! ⚽ Our track team also performed very well at Wednesday’s long meet. We are proud of the hard work and determination shown by all of our athletes.

A big highlight this week was our 5th and 6th grade trip to RiverPlex, where students celebrated our Six-Peat Most Improved Attendance streak with a fun-filled day of activities. We can’t wait for our 7th and 8th grade trip this Friday, May 1st!

Below are the dates of the April track meets held at the Peoria Stadium. We will announce and post times on our Facebook as soon as possible.

Thursday, April 30 (New date) - Meet Three at the Peoria Stadium

Saturday, May 2 - Concordia Cougar Invite at Eastside Center 9:00 - 3:00

Tuesday, May 5 - City Track Meet at the Peoria Stadium

Wednesday, April 29 - Von Steuben vs. Annie Jo Gordon at the Peoria Stadium - Games start at 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, May 5 - Von Steuben vs. Lincoln at Woodruff - Games start at 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 7 - Von Steuben vs. Elise Ford Allen at Peoria Stadium - Games start at 4:00 p.m. 

Monday, May 11 - Von Steuben vs. Glen Oak at the Dome - Games start at 4:00 p.m.

Please note that coaches for both sports are working together to make sure that our student athletes can participate in both sports as much as possible. There may be times, though, that students must choose due to spring sports scheduling. Coaches and students will work together to communicate through those times. 

We are enforcing no cell phones from 7:30 - 2:30 each day. Students have a Yondr pouch assigned to them. Each morning when students enter the building, they must either power down their phone or put it in airplane mode (to preserve the battery) and lock it in their pouch.

Clear backpacks are also required this year. We have two options for families. First, you can purchase a district clear backpack for $20 from the main office. Second, you can attend a school event to receive a clear Von Steuben backpack.
