Four Houses One Family

December Highlights

Last week, our Vikings faced some really cold temperatures bravely—and warmed up with hot chips (or nachos!) and cheese to celebrate our 92% attendance on Thursday! It was wonderful to see both students and staff bundled up in a rainbow of blankets, coats, and cozy layers. Thank you for showing up despite the cold and keeping our momentum strong!

As we move into the next two weeks before break, let’s stay focused and continue making every day count. This week, we begin our NWEA testing, and it is very important for all students to be present. We are always aiming to grow two or more percentile points each time we test. Students who meet this goal will earn 15 House Points per test, meaning thousands of points are up for grabs across ❤️ Amistad, 💙 Reveur, 🖤 Altruismo, and 💚 Isibindi. Show what you know and help your House shine!

We will also begin our door decorations this week as we prepare for our annual Grinch Games. Mr. Rayner has been in close contact with the Grinch himself—who is, unsurprisingly, quite grumpy about all the cheerful commotion—but we plan to persevere anyway! Who will earn the Gold, Silver, and Bronze recognition for their door decorations? Get ready for creativity, teamwork, and a little holiday mischief.

Let’s stay warm, stay focused, and finish these next two weeks strong, Vikings!

Cell Phones & Bookbags

We are enforcing no cell phones from 7:30 - 2:30 each day. Students have a Yondr pouch assigned to them. Each morning when students enter the building, they must either power down their phone or put it in airplane mode (to preserve the battery) and lock it in their pouch.

Clear backpacks are also required this year. We have two options for families. First, you can purchase a district clear backpack for $20 from the main office. Second, you can attend a school event to receive a clear Von Steuben backpack.
