January: Focused, Motivated, Viking Strong

Welcome back and happy New Year to our Viking families! We ended the semester with a great week of fun and friendly competition, and we are so thankful to the families who joined us for our Annual Grinch Games. Your cheers made it even more special—and the photos included remind us that we are always better together.

As we wait to see if we earned a Three-Peat for attendance improvement in December, let’s remember that every day counts in January. Rain, snow, or cold temperatures—let’s commit to being here, on time, and ready to learn. ❤️ Amistad, 💙 Reveur, 🖤 Altruismo, and 💚 Isibindi—your presence matters!

The second semester brings important learning and new challenges, including state testing. We are excited to continue growing, competing, and succeeding together as we start the year strong.

Let’s make January a great month at the Viking Village!

Cell Phones & Bookbags

We are enforcing no cell phones from 7:30 - 2:30 each day. Students have a Yondr pouch assigned to them. Each morning when students enter the building, they must either power down their phone or put it in airplane mode (to preserve the battery) and lock it in their pouch.

Clear backpacks are also required this year. We have two options for families. First, you can purchase a district clear backpack for $20 from the main office. Second, you can attend a school event to receive a clear Von Steuben backpack.
