Another Great Week at the Viking Village!
What a great week for our Vikings! Students wrapped up the final Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Math test, and we are almost completely finished with math testing—just a few make-ups left. Our strong daily attendance has made a BIG difference in keeping everything running smoothly. In fact, we met our weekly attendance goal again with 93% attendance every day. Way to go, Vikings!
On Friday, we took some time to review expectations and practice our hallway transitions so we are ready to head into the final week of IAR testing—Reading this time—feeling confident and prepared. Our Vikings have shown so much focus and determination, and we are incredibly proud of them.
A big congratulations to our volleyball teams, who both finished the season strong! Thursday’s 8th Grade Recognition Night was a fantastic celebration, and it was wonderful to see so many 8th graders come out to support their classmates. Even better, we received our third compliment this season about how welcoming and friendly our students and staff are. That is such a great reflection of the entire Von Steuben community! Thank you, Coach Smith, for making this season possible and doing so much to help our Vikings grow both on and off the court!
This week, let’s work together to finish IAR strong. We know the test can be challenging—it is designed that way—but remember that growth matters just as much as a perfect score, which means every single student’s effort counts. Please encourage your Viking to show up, stay focused, and give it their very best.
The good news? There are only two Reading tests, so the finish line is in sight! Let’s show up, give it our all, and finish strong together.
