We had another great week at the Viking Village! Thank you to our students, families, and staff for your teamwork and commitment to learning.

Last week, we reached our attendance goal of 93%, which meant we were able to celebrate together on Friday with our first Hungry, Hungry Hippos House Competition! Houses teamed up:
❤️ Amistad & 🖤 Altruismo vs. 💚 Isibindi & 💙 Reveur.

It was neck-and-neck the entire time, but in the final round, Isibindi and Reveur pulled ahead to clinch the victory—earning 20 points each for their houses! Great job, teams!

This week, we are working toward our 93% attendance goal again. If we meet our goal this week, students will earn a fun celebration on Friday, October 31st—a free dress day where students may wear school-appropriate costumes or comfy clothes/pajamas. We can do this! Every Viking here, every day, truly makes a difference in our learning and our success.

7 Mindsets Focus: We Are Connected

This month, we are focusing on the 7 Mindset, We Are Connected, which reminds us that we grow stronger when we build positive relationships and support one another. Students are learning how small actions—being kind, listening, helping, encouraging—can create stronger friendships and a stronger community.

We are encouraging everyone to:

• Look for the good in others

• Work together toward shared goals

• Include and support one another

When we lift each other up, we all rise.

Expected End Times for Regularly Scheduled Games:

• 3:45 p.m. start → Games end by 6:00 p.m.

• 4:00 p.m. start → Games end by 6:15 p.m.

• 4:30 p.m. start → Games end by 6:45 p.m.

• 9:00 a.m. start → Games end by 11:15 a.m.

Coach Duckworth will hold open gym for boys on Wednesday and Friday from 3:15 - 5:15 p.m. Please be sure to have athletic wear and gym shoes to participate. Thank you.

America Reads is a free tutoring program that pairs kids grades K-8 with a Bradley student to help them with reading comprehension, but if needed they can also help with homework. Starting September 22nd, these sessions are 45 minutes at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and kids can attend up to three sessions per week. These sessions take place on Bradley's campus. See the link on the flyer for the application to enroll your child today.

We are enforcing no cell phones from 7:30 - 2:30 each day. Students have a Yondr pouch assigned to them. Each morning when students enter the building, they must either power down their phone or put it in airplane mode (to preserve the battery) and lock it in their pouch.

Clear backpacks are also required this year. We have two options for families. First, you can purchase a district clear backpack for $20 from the main office. Second, you can attend a school event to receive a clear Von Steuben backpack.
